One of our founding partners spent a good portion of his life overseas travelling in his earlier career, and as a result his kids enjoyed travelling to out of the way places like India and Egypt (to name a few) and built up some fantastic experiences with him and his wife that the entire family still fondly recollect to this day. While the amount of stories can be a bit nauseating to an outsider – it is incredible to see them laughing over shared memories, and to see the bonds that were created that still make “dad” or “daughter” their preferred travel companion when they go away for a trip today – some decades later!

In this day and age though, it is all too common for a family escape to entail the parents lounging around the pool of a cruise ship or a resort while their children are amused elsewhere – usually in a kids club. Where rather than spending a holiday together they end up apart and doing very little in common or with each other.

In part this is because when two are working – like in most modern families – total R&R is fairly rare, and often what is needed for the adults in the group. In the same breath though these are the type of families who need more time together than ever before, with 2 adults working and the amount of activities that kids do after school these days the opportunity to spend quality time together as parents and children has diminished significantly – and its at these times where the bonds that really last are formed.

Which is why family vacations where you can spend time together – doing activities that appeal to different members, and that will create bonds between the family as you explore new foods, cultures, ideas and ways of life – are so important.

In January 2021, Allworld Journeys is running a dedicated Family Tour – so that while you can escape with your family and get some quality time, you will also be travelling with others going through the same thing, who are obviously not going to be upset that you are infringing on their quality holiday by bringing the kids along!

This particular journey is to Vietnam, a fantastic location that can really bring a variety of encounters to a trip that will provide entertainment and value to everyone in a family. Not only will it provide the historic and cultural sightseeing that so many adults seek when they are travelling, but there are plenty of active options and activities that will help keep the kids interest whilst on tour!

On this tour alone to mention a few activities that will keep everyone amused you will have a Cyclo Tour of Hanoi, explore the Tam Coc Caves after enjoying a Sampan Trip, take a cruise around Halong Bay and enjoying a host of Water activities, visit remote tribes and Soft Trekking around Sapa, Experiencing local farming and fishing life in Hoian including a Bowl Boat Ride, enjoy Puppet Shows, Dragonboat rides, The Mekong Delta Waterways and more.

Then to top it all off, when you have exhausted yourself and the family through touring and all the involved activities, we have a few days R&R at one of the many incredible beach resorts in Southern Vietnam before you fly home.

It’s not all scheduled touring and pre-planned activities though, with enough time for you to take the kids off to experience some street eats, or to wander through local markets or find yourself a fun park for an afternoon. While this tour provides a lot more pre-included activities than other family packages (and saves you worrying as much about what you need to cover every single day) it still retains enough freedom for your family to encounter some things on their own outside the group if desired.

So if the sound of taking your family off on a real adventure, where they can discover how people live in a world so different from ours it seems inconceivable, or where they can explore hidden caves and grottoes whilst you see some of the most incredible scenery on earth – then I suggest you check out our Vietnam Family Tour (click here) – and get in touch with us to book aboard this fantastic departure!

Touring The Central Asian Republics

Having spent a good portion of the last 18 years as a tour operator working in emerging destinations there is always something ready to stun, amaze and intrigue you. The companies I have worked for were amongst the first to go into China in the early 80’s and Vietnam in the early 90’s, and during the time I was with them were amongst the first doing regular touring into destinations like Myanmar, the  DPRK, Libya, Uganda and many more.

One of those destinations that we were amongst the pioneering travel organisers into were the republics of Central Asian Republics after the break up of the USSR. Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan and more. As luck would have it, despite organising a number of groups to this region my own travels escorting groups often saw me off to other destinations like Egypt, Libya, Turkey and Myanmar

As a result I have been itching for some time to get up to Central Asia and see the wonders these incredible countries have on offer. From Registan Square, which inspired the tale of Scheherazade and 1001 Arabian nights, to the scenic beauty of places like Altyn Arashan that rival the Rockies for their grandeur.

The Central Asian Republics sat astride the Ancient Silk Road and with influences converging from China and Mongolia to the East, India and Persia to the South and Russia and the European Continent from the West, these states shown an incredibly diverse cultural array reflected in their food, music, history and day to day lives.

Whether you are exploring the tombs of one of the ancient Shieks, eating pilaf in a remote mountain town, or enjoying the soviet-esque splendour of cities like Ashgabat, there is always an experience lurking in this region for people to discover.

Which is why in May 2019, I am finally headed there! Over the course of  twenty days I will be exploring some of the most incredible sights and experiences available in Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan. All things running to plan I look to fly into Almaty with Asiana Airlines (which allow for a free night in Seoul), and out of Tashkent, taking in the best of what I can between .. From the walled city of Khiva to the ever burning “Hells’ Gate”.

More to the point, as I am doing this programme with people I know and have worked with on the ground for almost twenty years, the rates and inclusions are incredible, and I thought this is the perfect opportunity for me to show this area off to more people, which is why you are seeing this packet of information! I would love for you to join me as I discover the Central Asian Republics on this once in a lifetime experience!

Regards Daniel

There is something about a wildlife encounter that is truly engaging for travellers, whether its birding out in wetlands, watching bears from a hide, swimming with manatees, feeding baby Pandas, having breakfasts with orang-utans or spotting big game while on safari.

So, if you dream of your holidays and have been excited about the prospect of being a Nomad of the Sea or visiting Chile, then the next logical step is an extension out of Puerto Montt to the Nature Reserve of Huilo Huilo.

The Huilo Huilo Biological Reserve is located in the middle of the Chilean Patagonian Rainforest, under the majestic Andes Mountain range. This is a unique project because of its commitment to the conservation of nature and local culture. A trip there is a fascinating journey through the magic of the reserve, where you will learn about the area, the Huilo Huilo Foundation and our commitment to sustainable tourism.
