Many people under estimate what they can do with a family holiday. They have kids, and for the most part want simple, after all its easier to look after them if you don’t have to worry about getting them around and organizing yourself to travel. This is why family holiday destinations like Fiji, Thailand and Cruises are in vogue at the moment.
There are though many alternatives on what you can do with a family holiday that will still allow you to explore a new destination, encounter new cultures and still have a great time with the family. Vietnam, Turkey, India, China, Peru, Brazil and more. Just because you have a family in tow does not mean you can’t get out and do most of what you would want to do on an otherwise child-free trip.
How does it work? Tour times are balanced between activities both adults and children will enjoy, a mix of meals that will allow comfort for the little ones and experimentation for the adults. More to the point its guided, which means that there is just more than you and the partner to help keep an eye on the kids and keep them occupied.
So what do we suggest? Take a read after the break, look at how you can take the family around Peru, and you will realize that while you may feel that children restrict your travel options the world is still at your feet!

Where Will We Visit:
Urubamba Sacred Valley: We´ll travel throughout the mythical Urubamba Sacred Valley , enjoying our encounter with nature, history and culture. We will visit several towns that still keep their ancestral traditional alive. Our stay here begins with a visit to Cochahuasi, an animal sanctuary devoted to rescuing, caring for and preserving native species. Awanakancha is our next stop, where children will enjoy feeding the four different types of camelids that live in the Andes. A few kilometers later we find the picturesque town of Pisac, famous for its arts and crafts market. To cap the day we will visit Ollantaytambo, during Inca times gateway to Machu Picchu and the jungle territories. Today it is the last Andean town to maintain the Inca urban planning system, jealously guarded by an imposing fortress. Spending time and sharing chores with a family in a typical Andean Village will allow us to understand what life is like in this part of the world. Another great learning experience will be our visit to Pablo Seminario’s workshop – Pablo is a famous ceramist, creator of what people have dubbed as the “Seminario style”: modern ceramic pieces with a strong pre-Inca influence. Those that feel like it can craft their own ceramic pots, maybe even creating a new style. In Chinchero, a town famous for the quality and beauty of its textiles, we will enter the world of master weaver Nilda Callañaupa. Nilda has devoted her life to preserving her ancestor´s weaving techniques, and formed the Cusco Center for Traditional Textiles, an NGO sponsored by National Geographic. During our stay we will also visit a local school, where the kids will be able to interact with local children.During the night, we will enjoy a cooking demonstration and even make our own cookies, tartlets and the famous causa limeña; make our own pizzas during Pizza Night, and watch a movie after our full-day outing to Machu Picchu.
Cusco City: Cusco, the oldest inhabited city on all of the Americas, was the political and religious center of the Inca Empire. During our stay we will visit the San Pedro market; the Main Square and the beautiful Cathedral which houses an impressive collection of art which narrates the city’s history from the Spanish conquest to the middle of the colonial period. We will also have a chance to see Sacsayhuaman, an impressive archaeological structure, the purpose of which is not precisely known yet, and the bohemian neighborhood of San Blas. For a sweet finale, we will visit Cusco’s Chocolate Museum, and learn about the process used to convert cocoa beans and other ingredients into chocolate.
Machu Picchu: Machu Picchu, was scientifically discovered by Hiram Bingham in 1911, who thought it was the last bastion of the Incas. Accompanied by an expert guide, we will understand how the small city functioned, its meaning and importance for the Incas, and the reason of its abandonment. The beauty and complexity of its architecture, the spectacular natural landscapes, and the energy contained within its structures will make of this an unforgettable day.
Lima: Lima, a cosmopolitan city with a outstanding cultural heritage, will be the last stop of our amazing journey.
