The impressive Mayan ruins of Xunantunich

Day 1, Cayo District (Unguided transfer)
Arrive Belize & transfer into the rainforest. Cayo Area 4N.

Day 2: Xunantunich & San Ignacio (B,L) (Guided)
This morning we will explore the Cayo area & transfer to the impressive Mayan ruins of Xunantunich where we will have a private guided tour of the site. After our tour we transfer into the traditional town of San Ignacio where lunch is provided and there is time to explore before transferring back to the hotel.

Day 3, Cave Adventure (B,L) (Guided)
Enjoy an adventurous cave / river trip to see ancient Mayan ritual sites where artifacts remain. Choose between Barton Creek where you canoe through the cave or Actun Tunichmal for a more strenuous & adventurous jungle & cave trip with a surprise at the end!

Day 4, Caracol & Mountain Pine Ridge (B,L) (Guided)
Travel through the scenic Mountain Pine Ridge National Park on your way to the famous Mayan Site at Caracol. At Caracol enjoy a private guided tour of this impressive site which is the largest Maya site in Belize. On the way back to the hotel stop to visit the Rio Frio Caves and Pools

Day 5, Hummingbird Highway – Punta Gorda (B, D) (Unguided Transfer)
Travel along the famous Hummingbird Highway right across Belize and down to the southern coastal area. This is where you really start to get off the beaten track as you arrive in the unspoilt beauty of the Toledo district with its strong Maya culture. Arrival at the Lodge in time for cocktails and orientation to the Lodge before you dine in the softly lit ambience of the Lodge’s restaurant. Lodge at Big Falls, 3N

Day 6, Mayan harpist – Lubaantun (B, L, D) (Guided)
Begins with an early morning guided bird walk along the river bank and through the orchard and meadows around the Lodge. After breakfast you will betaken to visit the home of Mr Florencio Mes a Kek’chi Mayan
harpist and instrument maker. Visit his workshop, hear him play and tour his kitchen garden. Then on to Lubaantun Mayan site where the Crystal Skull was discovered in 1926 followed by a visit to Rio Blanco National
Park for lunch and a swim beneath the waterfall and to explore the natural history of the riverside with a local Mayan guide.

Day 7, Blue Creek Village (B, L, D) (Guided)
After breakfast you will be driven the thirteen miles to Blue Creek village where you will spend the day with very experienced local guides with a deep knowledge of rainforest medicinal plants and of the caves system in the hills and mountainsides around Blue Creek. Blue Creek offers variety of activities to suit the seasons including swimming into the cave where Blue Creek emerges from the mountainside, hiking through a dry cave higher up in the mountainside, exploring a medicinal plant trail or visiting your Mayan guide’s home and learning how to grind corn and make tortillas. For the very energetic there is also the option of climbing the steep side of the valley to the peak where you can gain magnificent views of the forest between Blue Creek and the coast twenty miles away.

Day 8, Placencia (B) (Unguided Transfer)
Transfer to the Placencia Penninsular to your beachside hotel. Rest of the day free to relax on the beach or book tours locally.

Day 9, Placencia (B) (Guided)
Guests will enjoy a day of sailing and snorkeling in tropical cayes. Enjoy the crystal clear blue waters of the Caribbean while you are net-dipping, sunbathing, snorkeling and beach combing. Lunch will be served aboard and drinks will be available. This day will be an unforgettable experience.

Day 10 & 11: Free days to Relax (B) (Unguided)
Today you can just relax on the beach, have some Spa Treatments or we can help to arrange another trip, to inland or sea destinations.

Day 12, Transfer out (B) (Unguided Transfer)
Transfer to Placencia airport for the 40min flight to Belize International Airport in plenty of time for your flight out.
