A trek to Lares & Machu Picchu is an incredible way to discover the local region

Day 1: Cusco-Calca-Quiswarani-Cuncani
Early in the morning we pick you up from your hotel in a comfortable private bus and begin our exciting travel through the Sacred Valley for approximately 30 minutes until Calca town for a break to buy last minute things. Our trip by bus continues until Quiswarani village, where we meet our horsemen, cook and horses to begin the trek. We will go up until the beautiful Queuña Qocha lagoon and then will arrive to Huillcapunku Pass (4400 m.a.s.l.). After this Pass we will  have lunch while enjoying the beautiful scenery. Our hike will continue until reaching our first campsite in Cuncani Village. Meals included: Lunch and dinner

Day 2: Cuncani – Mantanay
This is the most difficult day but at the same time the most gratifying. Right after an early breakfast, our hike will beging, an we will walk for 4 hours approximately until Chaqchapata where we will stop for lunch. After lunch we will continue hiking for 2 more hours until the Aruray Pass (4450 m.a.s.l.), from here we will enjoy a wonderful scenery with snowcapped mountains and a nice lake. From this point we descend to walk near two lagoons and a Polylepis forest. There is a wide change in scenery before arriving at our beautiful campsite in Mantanay. Meals included: Breakfast, lunch and dinner

Day 3: Mantanay – Yanahuara – Aguas Calientes
After breakfast we will descend to lower altitude until Yanahuara village, part of the Sacred Valley. After eating lunch in Yanahuara, our private bus will take us to Ollantaytambo station, where we will boarf the train to Aguas Calientes town. Overnight in Aguas Calientes. Meals included: Breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Day 4: Aguas Calientes – Machu Picchu – Cusco
After having a delicious breakfast we take the bus towards Machu Picchu. After a guided visit through the complex, you will have time to explore it on your own. The more adventurous types can climb Huayna Picchu* and enjoy incredible views of Machu Picchu. At the scheduled time, we will go down to Aguas Calientes, where we’ll board our return train. Upon arrival, a private vehicle will be waiting to take us to our hotel in Cusco.
Please note: This schedule is for reference only and is subject to change.  Meals included: Breakfast *Please note that the ascent to Huayna Picchu is restricted to a maximum number of visitors per day, therefore an admission ticket must be purchased in advance.
