Day 1 – Monday – TEOTIHUACAN
After having enjoyed Mexico City , you will enjoy this extra-day extension in and around the Mexican capital. A drive through the northern suburbs will take you to the Basilica of Guadalupe, the most revered shrine to millions of Mexicans. From here, proceed to San Juan Teotihuacan, to inspect the awe-inspiring pyramids of the Sun and Moon and walk down the Road of the Dead to the Citadel, to wonder at the quite impressive Temple of Quetzalcóatl, trimmed with its bold stone-sculptured representations of the rain god Tlaloc and of plumed-serpent heads The site is impressive for its scale, both in the size of the Pyramid of the Sun (the third largest one in the world) and the majesty of the Avenida de los Muertos, originally 4kms long and flanked by temples, palaces and platforms. Look for amazingly well preserved murals in the Palace of the Jaguars or the Palace of the Quetzal-butterfly. Return to Mexico City, where you may enjoy a free afternoon and evening, with an opportunity to explore some of its many sights on your own. Overnight at your hotel.

Day 2 – Tuesday – TAXCO
An early morning departure over a modern freeway, down to Cuernavaca, the “City of Eternal Spring”, the favourite summer residence of both Conqueror Hernán Cortes and of Emperor Maximilian. After a visit to the continent’s oldest cathedral, a very imposing, fortress-like, solid-stone open. colonial construction with an ultra modern main altar- we continue our drive into the rugged mountains of the central Sierra Madre, to the quaint silver mining town of TAXCO. A sightseeing walk takes us to the beautiful baroque church of Santa Prisca, with its splendid Churrigueresque gilded altarpieces. There will be plenty of free time to browse through the many, smart silver shops and workshops, where you may watch the skilled silversmiths at work, and to stroll through this charming town’s cobble-stoned streets. Overnight at a charming country inn.

Day 3 – Wednesday – ACAPULCO
This morning we continue through further rugged mountain chains, and down into the tierra caliente lowlands, as the landscape becomes gradually tropical, until we reach Acapulco, Mexico’s world famous playground on the Pacific. Tour ends at the hotel of your choice, on Acapulco Bay or on the ocean Revolcadero Bay, where you will start an unforgettable beach holiday.
