Day 1, Arrival at Belize (Unguided transfers)
Guests arrive at Belize International airport and will have a private transfer to their lodge. On the way guests will stop at the Belize Zoo to enjoy the “behind the scenes tour” if there is time. Overnight Cayo District, 4N • Upgrade with a helicopter transfer to the Lodge
Day 2, Caracol & Mountain Pine Ridge (B,L) (Guided)
Travel through the scenic Mountain Pine Ridge National Park on your way to the famous Mayan Site at Caracol. At Caracol enjoy a private guided tour of this impressive site which is the largest Maya site in Belize. On the way back to the hotel stop to visit the Rio Frio Caves and Pools
Day 3, Canoe, Medical Plant & Natural History Museum (B) (Guided)
In the morning guests will canoe downstream with a guide to San Ignacio where they will be transferred back to the Lodge. Guests will be taking with their guide on the Rainforest Medicinal trail and will visit the Natural History Centre where they will get an introduction to the history and geography of Belize and see displays of archaeological artifacts, butterflies, moths, insects and amphibians. • Add an extra day to visit Tikal in Guatemala
Day 4, Mountain Biking (B) (Guide HD)
Today guests will enjoy a half day mountain bike tour in the tropical jungle around Chaa Creek. On route they will learn about the local flora and fauna in the tropical jungle. The afternoon is free to relax at the lodge.
Day 5, Toledo District & Horse riding (B, L) (Guide HD)
Guests transfer from the Cayo Region down the Hummingbird Highway to their destination on the South Coast. Along the way they stop to enjoy a 3hr Horse Riding adventure through aromatic orange groves and rainforest scenery at the Greenacres Stables. Lunch is included. Overnight, 3N
Day 6, Maya Gold Village & Chocolate (B,L) (Guide FD)
For Machaca Hill Lodge: On this tour guests will meet the makers of chocolate, the Maya people of Belize. Guests will see how the local people grow and use Cacao beans and will enjoy learning about their ancient ways and crafts. In the afternoon guests will learn more about another fascinating culture of the region and visit the Garifuna village of Barranco. For Lodge at Big Falls: After breakfast guests will drive to San Felipe, a Kek’chi Maya village, to meet your host for the day, Juan Cho, who is running his own organic cacao plantation. Juan sells his beans to the Toledo Cacao Growers Association which ships the beans to Green & Black in the UK where they are used to produce their signature Mayan Gold chocolate bars, the very first Fair trade product. Guests will visit the plantation where they will be explained the organic farmer methods they use to produce cacao.
Day 7, Cave Tubing (B,L) (Guide FD)
After breakfast you will be driven the thirteen miles to Blue Creek village where you will spend the day with very experienced local guides with a deep knowledge of rainforest medicinal plants and of the caves system in the hills and mountainsides around Blue Creek. Blue Creek offers variety of activities to suit the seasons including swimming into the cave where Blue Creek emerges from the mountainside, hiking through a dry cave higher up in the mountainside, exploring a medicinal plant trail or visiting your Mayan guide’s home and learning how to grind corn and make tortillas. For the very energetic there is also the option of climbing the steep side of the valley to the peak where you can gain magnificent views of the forest between Blue Creek and the coast twenty miles away.
Day 8, Transfer to the Beach (B) (Unguided transfer)
Guests will be transferred to their hotel at the beach on the south coast. Beach Hotel 4N
Day 9, 10 & 11, Free days on the beach (B) (Unguided)
Today guests can just relax on the beach or we can help to arrange another trip to inland or sea destinations. • Enquire about upgrading to a package including meals and tours
Day 12, Transfer out (Unguided Transfer)
Transfer to airport for flight to Belize International Airport in plenty of time for your flight out.
