Zhongdian is sometimes referred to as “Little Potala”
Day 01: Entry Beijing
Our guide will pick you up at Beijing airport and transfer to the hotel. The rest of day is free.
Day 02: Beijing
Visit the Tiananmen Square, the Forbidden City and the Temple of Heaven. Beijing Duck Dinner and Peking Opera served in the evening.
Day 03: Beijing
Visit Great Wall Badaling Section, and the Ming Tombs of Changlin.
Day 04: Beijing/Shanghai
Visit the Summer Palace, Hutong Tour by Tricycle with a local family visit to experience the local life. Afternoon flight to Shanghai, visit the Bund, Pudong New Area and the TV Tower of Oriental Pearl (up to its second sphere).
Day 05: Shanghai
Visit Yu Garden and its market, Shanghai Museum, Nanjing Road and Xintiandi bar street.
Day 06: Shanghai/Kunming
Morning flight to Kunming, visit West Hill, Dragon Gate with sightseeing van, Golden Temple and Flower market. Taste Cross-the –Bridge-Noodles for dinner.
Day 07: Kunming
One day tour to Stone Forest and its quintessential karst landscape makes every tourist lost in wonder.
Day 08: Kunming/Dali
Morning drive to Dali (5 hours), Visit Ancient Town of Dali , Three Pagodas of Chongshan Monastery.
Day 09: Dali/Lijiang
Visit Butterfly Spring which is actually a pool four meters deep and 20 square meters wide. In the fourth lunar month every year, the tree puts out butterfly-shaped flowers, and swarms of butterflies in twenty or so breeds descend on the tree, linking themselves head against tail into numerous colorful ribbon-like strings which keep dangling over the pool. Then have boat ride on Erhai Lake which is fresh water lake in the Yunnan Plateau at an elevation of 1972 metres, with a length of 42 km and width of 8 km. Enjoy the performances of local minority nationality. Afternoon drive to Lijiang (3 hours)
Day 10: Lijiang
The ancient city of Lijiang is found in Dayan Town, a largely Naxi settlement first built some eight centuries ago. With Sifang Street at the core, the entire city spreads out in all direction, and is crisscrossed by a labyrinth of flagged streets and alleyways. Most of the dwellings scattered at the foot of a mountain or by the rivers which flow through every corner of the city, are brick-and-tile structures with carved doors and painted windows. Traffic across the rivers is facilitated by a large number of tiny stone bridges. Visit Summer Palace of Ancient Local Master, Black Dragon Pool Park.
Day 11: Lijiang
Visit Yulong Snow Mt., Yunsan Plateau (cable car up and down), Dry Sea, White Water River, and Beisha Murals. Dinner on your own so you can go to taste the local food.
Day12: Lijiang/Zhongdian
Drive to Zhongdian which is also known as Shangrila (5 hours), on the way you will visit Hutiao Gorge (Tiger Leaping Gorge), the Hutiao Gorge with a drop of 3,000 meters is believed to be the world’s deepest canyon. The name of the gorge is attributed to the legend that a tiger had once jumped across the gorge at its narrowest section 30 meters in width. You will have the chance to view First Bend of the Yangtze River too. It is where the Yangtze River, following a northwest course, plunges head – on into a high and cragged cliff, takes a sharp U-turn-believed to be the river’s first bend as it flows on – and changes its course in a northeast direction. Upon arrival at Zhongdian, you will have home visit to local Tibetan People.
Day 13: Zhongdian/Kunming
Visit Songzanlin Monastery, or ‘Little Potala’ as it is affectionately known, is a spiritual place that invites you to discover the mystery and traditions of Tibetan Buddhism. Since the 5th Dalai Lama chose the site through divination in 1679, the monastery has grown into the most important community of its kind in Yunnan. Visit the Napahai Lake which is 3270 meters above sea level and covers 660 square km. Mountains stand by it on three sides and 10-plus rivers flow into it after zigzagging through the grasslands. Evening flight to Kunming.
Day 14: Kunming/Canton
Transferred to take flight to Canton, visit Dr.Sun-Yet San’s Memorial Hall, Temple of Six-Banyan-Tree, Yuexiu Park, Temple of Chen Clan Family
Day 15: Canton/Exit
Transferred to take flight back home.
